Shelley is an avid runner and understands most sport related injuries. She also has great success with migraines, fibromyalgia, back and neck pain.
Massage can allow quicker recovery from physical stress and trauma, and help eliminate the post-work out buildup of lactic acid, a by-product of exercise that causes muscle aches. For athletes, massage therapy has been shown to enhance recovery time and improve performance. Massage is recognized as being effective in reducing or managing both acute and chronic pain.
Massage therapy encourages healing by promoting the flow of blood and lymph, relieving tension, stimulating nerves and stretching and loosening muscles to keep them elastic. Massage therapy re-establishes muscle tone, reduces muscle spasms and can restore restricted movement by allowing tightened muscles to relax. Treating muscular imbalance and pain with massage therapy can improve posture and free your body to move more comfortably.
Your therapist will then greet you and take you into one of our relaxing treatment rooms to discuss your health history. He or she will also perform an assessment that will allow them to create a safe treatment plan customized to your specific needs. Your therapist will then leave the room while you get undressed. Some clients prefer to completely disrobe, while others prefer to leave on their undergarments. Once you are on the massage table, you will completely cover yourself with a crisp, clean top sheet and cozy blanket. Your therapist will knock on the door to be sure you are ready before they re-enter.
During your treatment, your massage therapist will only uncover the part of the body they are working on to ensure your modesty is respected. He or she will also ask you from time to time if the pressure is okay. Please be sure to communicate with your therapist about pressure - it's your massage.
Once your massage is complete, your therapist will leave the room for you to redress. The therapist will meet you at the front desk where they will give you some important tips for post treatment home care as well as to discuss the next scheduled visit.
